3B- Fantastic Fractions

Sunday, 22 May 2016

This week in 3B we have been learning to add and subtract fractions. When the children found out this is what they were going to be learning there were a few scared faces and worried looks. However, they soon found out how simple it really was and we had a class full of smiling faces. All the children worked really hard on this and soon realised that fractions aren’t so scary.

E-Safety Activity 17.05.16

Tuesday, 17 May 2016

Last week, we set the school an activity which was to watch your year group’s video about E-safety.

What choices did the characters make that made them unsafe? If you were that person what would you do differently to change the situation and not become a target?

Please add your comments below.

This week in 3B

Saturday, 14 May 2016

This week in 3B we have been busy learning all about Stone Age art and food. On Monday, we made the most of the lovely sunshine and went outside to start creating our Stone Age artwork. We painted long pieces of paper so that they looked like the inside of a cave using sponges and brown paint. Then on Friday we added our cave drawings onto the cave using charcoal and chalk.

We have also been learning about what Stone Age people ate. On Friday we made Stone Age bread, which Miss Baker cooked on the BBQ, and stewed fruit using apples and sultanas. It was a really fun activity and after lunch we all sat down together to eat what we had made.

4L: Roman Poetry

Friday, 13 May 2016

This week we took on the role of Roman soldiers, and used our five senses to describe a ferocious battle. To help create a picture in the readers mind, we included metaphors and similes in our poetic recount, along with exciting adjectives and powerful verbs. Although it was a hard fought battle we are pleased to report that we were victorious, both on the battlefield and in producing high-quality writing!

Reception- The Snail and the Whale

Friday, 13 May 2016

In Literacy this week we have been reading the story of ‘The Snail and the Whale’ the children pretended to be the characters from the story in a hot seating session and answered true or false questions about the story. The children then looked at one of the pictures from the story and wrote about the characters adventure, describing what was happening in the illustration.

In Maths this week we have been revising addition. We know that we can count sets of objects to find the answer and we can count on in our heads or using our fingers. The children were very good at reading and understanding number sentences, so for our Maths activity we worked out the answers to different addition sentences and coloured in the total.

All our plants and herbs are growing well and our Caterpillars are now in their cocoons. We can’t wait for them to turn into beautiful butterflies.

Where to start……

We have really been enjoying the weather recently and have got outside as much as we can. Last week we went on a wnoderful trip to Abbey fields! We saw baby ducks and a variety of wildlife. Our favouite thing  we saw was a field of buttercups, they looked so pretty and made us smile.

Our beans have been growing lots and are finally ready to be planted next week, we have not seen any giants yet though!

This morning we made backpacks to be given to the primeminster so that we can send our friends to school. This afternoon we have been doing some observational drawings outside of our school plyground. We may have ended up with a little chalk on our faces, but our pictures loooked fab!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
