Reception- Traditional Tales

This term in Reception our topic is Traditional Tales, so far we have read the stories; Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Little Red Riding Hood. We have looked at the similarities and differences of the stories and all took part in shared writing during carpet time.

In literacy last week we pretended to be Goldilocks and wrote a letter to the three bears, saying sorry for eating their porridge. This week in literacy we looked at sentence structure and the children had to unscramle a sentence remembering that a sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop.

In Maths we have been really focussing on our number skills; counting to 20, counting back, one more, one less and number bonds to 10. We have also worked hard on our addiotion skills and number formation when writing our number sentences.

In cooking last week we made porridge, just like Goldilocks. In cooking this week we made chocolate chip cookies, just like the ones in Little Red Riding Hoods basket. We enjoyed them at the end of the day with a cup of milk- they were yummy!

Another fantastic week of learning in Reception.
