5C’s Planet Discovery

Yesterday, in 5C, we all went outside to the playground with some string, scissors and some chalk. Nine of us pretended to be planets (and the sun) and we went in order. Our first plan, which was drawing lines of chalk from the planets to the Sun, didn’t go to well. Our next plan was for all the planets to hold string tightly (and the other ends held by the Sun) and go in a circle. This showed the orbit of all the planets around the Sun.

We enjoyed this experience and learnt about how fast or how slow planets orbited around the Sun. Neptune actually took  60,190 days (or 165 years) to go around the Sun!
